Symbology#
All Symbologies#
If the code reading device needs to read all symbologies, please scan the “All symbologies enabled” barcode. To only read a specific symbology, please scan the “All symbologies disabled” barcode, and then scan the enable barcode for that specific symbology.

Note
After scanning the “All symbologies enabled” barcode, 2D postal codes are not enabled by default. 2D postal codes must be enabled separately.
Reading length description#
The effective reading length of certain Symbologies can be set. If the length of the barcode data read does not match the effective reading length, the code reading device will issue an error tone. Setting the minimum and maximum length to the same value will force the barcode reading device to read fixed-length barcodes. This helps reduce misreadings.
Example
Only barcodes with a length of 6-10 characters are read.

Select the Symbology for which you want to set the maximum and minimum reading length, scan the “Minimum Reading Length” barcode under its directory, scan the number “
6” barcode and the “Save” barcode from Appendix Charts.Scan the “Maximum Read Length” barcode, scan the digits “

The above steps will set the maximum reading length of the selected Symbology to 10 and the minimum reading length to 6.

If the code reading device needs to read all 1D barcodes, please scan the “All 1D barcodes enabled” barcode. Only certain Symbologies can be read, please scan the “All 1D Symbologies disabled” barcode.

Codabar supports barcode concatenation. When cascading is enabled, the barcode reading device looks for a Codabar barcode with a “D” start character that is adjacent to a barcode with a “D” stop character. In this case, the two barcodes are concatenated into one, omitting all “D” characters.

Scan the “Require” barcode to prevent barcode reading devices from decoding a single “D” Codabar barcode without an adjacent “D” starting character for the Codabar barcode. This selection has no effect on Codabar without stop/start D characters.

Code 32 Pharmaceutical is a form of the Code 39 barcode used in Italian pharmacies. When configuring Code 32, you need to enable Code 39 before configuring it.
This encoding is also called PARAF.
